The MIDI "Output drivers" are in play: (again without confusing the bigger topic with "MIDI Thru" settings) If you don’t have "Re-Route MIDI playback to default Dxi/VSTi Synth" checked. For the purists, yes we can MAKE them matter if we start using software re-routers like LoopBe2, Loopbe30, MIDI yoke to send MIDI data to ST3 standalone - but that is NOT the way to troubleshoot this problem or even work in general) So as far as getting ST 3 or any plug-in to work within Real Band the "MIDI Output Drivers" (all, one, or none) are immaterial. The MIDI "Output drivers," determines where to route/send RealBand MIDI data to EXTERNAL MIDI devices, which includes (paradoxically) things like "MIDI yoke," LoopBe2 (free by the way) or LoopBe30 or other virtual port devices. This won’t help your current issue - but as info: I ran the DX diagnostics tool in "options" on the sampletank synth panel and everything checked out. I've tried putting the desired synth on both tracks 3 and 4 and also on track 1 in the sampletank synth panel and it makes no difference. The track I'm testing is Track #4, midi channel 3. I also experimented with the changing the track in the sampletank synth panel. I used to be able to hear sounds when in the synth panel if I had RB set to AISO.
The bad news is that it still doesn't play in RB and it took a step backwards, too. The synth panel configuration window now shows many more instruments so I must have messed something up in the first installation. I went back and re-installed SampleTank, this time using the default file locations instead of a location on my Dropbox. I pushed the default MME button on preferences/audio, too, just in case. Anyway, I got to where you were ultimately pointing through preferences and made sure that speakers are highlighted and moved to the top to make them the default midi out devices. Are you on a Mac? My RB doesn't have that little button on the bottom right. Note I would record in RB and not in BiaB.
You would use MME drivers in BiaB and ASIO drivers in RB. This is why I use MME drivers in BiaB and ASIO drivers in Sonar. If it doesn't and you are planning on recording your keyboard then you should very seriously consider a new soundcard.Īs mentioned ASIO will only drive one program at a time so no you will not be able to use Media Player with RB open if both are using ASIO drivers. See if your current soundcard has native ASIO drivers.
If you are going to record using your keyboard then an ASIO driver is a necessary driver otherwise latency (press a key and a second later hear it) will drive you nuts. What soundcard are you using? From what I have read ASIO4all is very good but it can be tricky to set up when using some sound cards. It could help us if you would include a few screenshots as maybe we could see the problem.
You mentioned that you also could not get 32 bit Kontakt to work so the problem isn't jBridge either.
